Bibimbap (비빔밥) literally means "mixed rice"—but it’s so much more than that. It’s a dazzling bowl of warm rice, topped with a rainbow of sautéed and seasoned veggies, a sizzling fried egg, and that iconic spicy-sweet gochujang sauce. It’s comforting, nourishing, and exploding with flavor!
Blanch spinach and bean sprouts separately in boiling water (1–2 mins). Rinse under cold water and squeeze out excess moisture.
Season each with 1/2 tsp sesame oil and a pinch of salt.
Sauté carrots, zucchini, and mushrooms one by one in a lightly oiled pan. Add a dash of soy sauce to the mushrooms for added umami.
Place a generous scoop of warm rice in a large bowl.
Neatly arrange each vegetable, kimchi (if using), and mushrooms on top in sections.
Fry an egg and place it in the center of the bowl.
Drizzle sesame seeds and a bit more sesame oil over the top.
Serve with gochujang sauce on the side or directly on top.
Mix everything together before eating for the full flavor explosion!
